Lutheran Christians believe that a child's parents are his or her primary care givers when it comes to their instruction in the Christian faith.  Naturally then it is important that parents need an understanding of the fundamentals of the Christian faith and a growing commitment to that faith.  

Therefore...
It is a requirement that at least one parent of the child to be baptized be themselves a baptized *member of the Lutheran Church of Australia, or if not a member already,  be undertaking steps to become a member of the church through a course of instruction.**

Notes

* Application for Membership at St Andrews Lutheran Church is open to those who have a growing faith in their Lord Jesus and have completed a prescribed "pastors class" with our church pastor or  are transferring their active membership from another Lutheran church. 


**St Andrews Pastor's Class is a course entitled  "Alpha" .
