What To Expect at One of Our Worship Services
- As a Lutheran Church we are a liturgical church. This means that our worship services each week follow a fairly standard formula and sequence.
- Each of our worship services usually contains; Bible readings, prayers, confessing our faith together in some way, hearing God's Word applied to our lives in the Address/Sermon, songs or hymns which we sing in response to God's love for us, confessing our sins and hearing God's words of forgiveness.
- Our worship, as with our life, is all about God's action, our response.
- The high points of our worship services are hearing God's Word and receiving Holy Communion.
- People sometimes ask, 'what should I wear when I come to one of your worship services?' The simple answer is, whatever you wish. Some people like to get dressed up, others wear what they would wear down to the shops or to lunch at a cafe. If you are comfortable and it's not offensive to others feel free to wear whatever you like.
- Everybody is invited to come to any of our worship services. How much you participate is up to you. If you just want to come and watch and check it out, you are welcome to do so.
- Each service also has morning tea after the service most Sundays which you are welcome to stay for and get to know us a bit more.
7.30am worship services in the Little Chapel
- Held on the first and third Sundays of each month (except during January) in the older style church building we call the Little Chapel (see instructions and map on home page for location details)
- A traditional service in which all the singing is hymns from our hymnbooks, and the organ provides our music
- At this service we use printed orders of service which have been used in the Lutheran Church for a number of years
- There is no children's message or Sunday School for children at this service
- It is a more traditional, more intimate, gathering of Christians worshipping together for those who appreciate this style of worship.
- Held every Sunday in the Worship Centre (see instructions and map on home page for location details)
- A more modern service in which most of the singing is songs both new and older, and bands provide our music
- At this service the service order is projected onto two large screens at the front.
- All the elements of our worship services are still here but will be done differently from week to week, eg, we may sing a song confessing our faith rather than confess one of the Creeds.
- This service includes a children's message during the service, after which children aged over 4 are welcome to go out with our experienced teachers for Sunday School (except during School holidays)
- Parents with children are more than welcome to stay in the main seating area during the worship service, and we assure you that any noise they make will concern you more than us, but if you are more comfortable the Worship Centre has a space in the foyer where children can spread out to do activities while their parents can still participate in the worship service, and also a calm room if your child needs a break away.
- A more contemporary style of worship and worship space where we have our larger gathering each week and which is also generally more suited to families.
